The Inspiring Story of Robert J Watkins: From Orphan to King & Priest

The story of Robert J Watkins:
Robert J. Watkins, the founder of Kings & Priests, serves as a testament to the fact that, no matter where we start, with faith and determination, we can achieve remarkable success. His journey is a reminder that true success doesn’t depend on where we begin but rather on our unwavering faith, obedience and our willingness to transform our mindset.

A Humble Beginning: From Toilets to Divine Calling:
For five long years, Robert diligently cleaned the church’s bathrooms. Not once did anyone offer him words of encouragement or commendation for his efforts. It was a thankless job, but Robert approached it with humility and a sense of purpose. Despite the lack of recognition, he never wavered in his service. In another Facebook post, Robert wrote on 11/13/23, “I am always grateful for the opportunity to serve wherever and whenever duty calls, even at 17 years old in the U.S. Army. 🙏🏼 Whether it’s in the workplace, community, ministry, or life itself, the belief in sacrifice and fighting for those less fortunate has always guided me. Let’s continue to make a difference, one act of service at a time.” From this post, we can deduce that service is ingrained in his DNA, and we highly encourage you to be of service wherever you find yourself. Service is a door that is always open, in our humble opinion.

A Test of Patience:
One day, a woman with her three rambunctious children entered the church. Robert had just finished cleaning the bathroom, and it smelled fresh and clean. However, the children wreaked havoc, throwing toilet paper everywhere and urinating on the floor. The situation tested Robert’s patience, and he was tempted to curse them out, but he didn’t.

As Robert continued to work tirelessly as a church janitor, he faced many personal challenges. He couldn’t afford car insurance for his small, blue Mazda, which meant he would often drive with a sense of fear every time he hit the highway, hoping no one would hit him.

Most knew him as Robert, the church janitor. Women always turned their gaze away because he was just a common bathroom cleaner guy. All these challenges had him thinking about the future and what it had in store for him.

He began to ponder these essential questions:

“What problem have I been called to solve?”
“Who have I been called to deliver?”
“Who have I been called to help?”
“What is it that God wants me to do?”
These questions were the catalyst for Robert’s transformation that set the stage for his incredible journey.
In that lowly estate, he obeyed the heavenly call, believing that God had called him to raise kings and priests. As these questions lingered in his heart, he knew he had to take action. However, with an orphan mindset, he couldn’t fathom stepping out to undertake something of this magnitude, signing multi-million deals, and impacting thousands of lives. Therefore, that mindset had to be eliminated.

During Kings & Priests ’23 in ATL, Robert urged men to become disruptors, as true kings are. We have been called to be disruptors and solve problems. He further advised men to build generational wealth, not just for their own sustenance but also for the future of their children and grandchildren. Creating wealth encompasses more than just paying one’s own bills, but also assisting others in meeting their financial obligations. His perspective on wealth is a comprehensive one, taking into account not only monetary aspects but also spiritual and relational aspects, aiming for a well-rounded wealth.

Staying Hungry and Purpose-Driven: The Journey Continues:
As we conclude Robert’s remarkable journey, the lesson we carry with us is the power of staying hungry for a purpose. Robert encourages all of us to remain committed to our divine calling, to believe in God’s vision for us, and to strive for a life that transcends financial success. So, stay hungry and embrace your divine calling, just as Robert Watkins did, and you too can create a lasting legacy.
